What

The Open Food Facts project defines itself as an Open Database on Food products, so this is at the heart of our project.

The Database Team tries to ensure the database is complete and without errors.

Aim 🎯

Our users need to be able to get products they care about and find accurate data on them, helping their choice in everyday life.

When we build the database, we are contributing to a knowledge common, a gift to humanity that can help improve life in many ways.

Researchers also needs to know they can count on a database with lots of accurate data.

Needs/ Missions

  • Add or improve products - this is the most easy and important activity
  • Holding event to improve contribution like Scan Parties
  • Help improve Quality
  • Moderation - for experienced users, it helps removing unwanted image or counteract vandalism
  • Improving Taxonomies - a work to try to structure data (categories, ingredients, etc.)
