Project to create a mobile version of the site.
Introduction
There is a mobile application for Open Food Facts that can scan a barcode to check the product information, and send photos and information about products. This application is available for both Android and iOS. This project is now trying to bring feature parity to the web, now that it's somewhat responsive.
Features desired
Scan barcodes
Ideally : scan barcode directly in the application (not sending image on the server) , continuous scan (no photo taking necessary), scan with continuous autofocus (can recognize more easily barcodes) .
Scan HTML5
Continuous Capture and analysis of images in javascript. First non-conclusive test (no autofocus) :
Web barcode scanner
Scandit has created a native-level web barcode scanner (it's closed source).
Existing
- We have the monolithic product opener which needs to be improved upon
- We also have the API driven openfoodfacts-explorer by vaiton
