Open Food Facts wiki is dedicated to documentation and knowledge sharing. It can be also used for project information or other usages.
What?
Wiki gardening is a way to maintain the wiki up to date and efficient.
Why?
- The wiki helps people to better contribute to Open Food Facts.
- The wiki needs to present things that are not (still) well explained on Open Food Facts websites or tools.
- If the wiki is not presentable, it loses credibility.
Tasks
- Rewrite and refactor to improve readability:
- typos, misspellings, ...
- rearrange pages, split long pages into smaller ones, delete pages
- add intro to pages to give context, make links between pages
- make it easier for newcomers to find what they are searching for. Information most useful to a large number, should be simple to access from the front page.
- Categorize pages, to allow exploring things by categories
- Update content that need to be: see Category:To be updated
- Ensure information is up-to-date: use the Category:To be updated to identify contents that need to be
- make wiki nicer (tip: use Wiki Icons)
Tools
🎯 Roadmap
- Install quality of life Wiki extensions
- Enable SSO once openfoodfacts-auth is deployed
- Install & config the new modern theme, with support for a top bar coherent with the rest of the Open Food Facts website
