Community Project Grants
Why?
Grow communities whose main goal is to develop Open Food Factsâ projects and its usages.
What ?
A grant to support regular & long-term actions to promote the Open Food Facts project.
Some examples :
- Create an active Open Food Facts community in your country.
- Support the activity of a group of persons promoting Open Food Facts to a specific public
- Organize regular activities around data collection (with various public: studentsâŚ)
What do we fund?
Here are some examples of expenses that can be part of your budget:
logistic expenses: travel, meals, supplies (flyers, refreshments, t-shirts, etc.)
service expenses: graphic design, legal advices, etc.
Amount and distribution
Up to 2000âŹ, depending on the projectâs ambition/ potential/ needs.
Distribution to be discussed during the application.

- Individuals (adult)
- Organization with legal existence
- From any country
How to apply
- Describe your project: what you plan to do, why you need funding, goals, links etc.
- Make a detailed budget proposal.
Applying dates
Deadline for applications: 28 janvier 2024
Announcement of selection: 16 fĂŠvrier 2024
Duration of your project
Commitment to 1 year, with possible renewal of the grant for the following year.
Timeline
- Application via a form.
- Response from Open Food Facts team.
- An initial call to get to know you & the project.
- Project is accepted or not.
- Project is carried out. A call is organised monthly with the Open Food Facts team to catch up.
- Project is completed.
- A report is presented on what was made possible during the year, pain points, successes and any other feedback.
- Project is presented to the community during the Open Food Facts Days 2024.
- Another grant may be asked & may/may not be accepted.
- Reimbursement of costs upon receipt of receipts (within 2 weeks).
- Reporting/accountability:
- Regular meet-up to catch up with a member of the permanent team
- You must provide invoices: it must show amount, date (optionally name).
- A final report of the project, with photos when possible.
- A presentation of the project to the Open Food Facts community members at the annual reunion.
- Support from Open Food Facts
- Open Food Facts team is always there to help to the best of their ability (skill or time-wise).
- A plethora of tools, communication kits, resources to feed the project you want to carry out.
Selection criterias
Note: We reserve the right not to select any project if it does not meet our criteria. And meeting all the criteria doesnât mean a project will be selected, it all depends on the number of applications.
- The project aims to promote the work of Open Food Facts. (Not to promote another service / organisation with the same funding.)
- It is in line with Open Food Facts vision, mission & values.
- It shows a potential to be sustainable or/and replicable.
- The contents/data/methodologies produced during your project are published as they happen, under licences compatible with Open Food Factsâ ones.
