Wikipedia rules and Mediawiki uses

Thanks Javichu! I'm not very familiar with wikipedia rules and mediawiki features, so your help is very welcome. :-) Is there a mediawiki plugin that makes replying to other users easier? --Stephane (talk) 14:01, 3 December 2013 (CET)

Thanks Javichu and Teolemon! I just installed Echo on this wiki. --Stephane (talk) 15:25, 7 December 2013 (CET)

Global categories taxonomy

Hi Javichu! How are you? I made some mistakes when I did the manual merge, I had the same categories twice, and when I ran them through the "taxonomy builder", it resulted in those blank es: en: and fr: lines. Thanks a lot for spotting this. I'm fixing it. --Stephane (talk) 21:53, 1 December 2014 (CET)

We are in the process of mapping Open Food Facts categories to the French National Program for Health and Nutrition (PNNS). The PNNS contacted us to use OFF data for their research. The categories may change again in the next few days. --Stephane (talk) 21:53, 1 December 2014 (CET)

Spanish packaging codes / EU agreement numbers

Just some news about Spain support in Open Food Facts. Just like we did for FR and UK, we started normalizing the ES packaging codes: http://es.openfoodfacts.org/codigos-de-envasadores

We use the EU form: "ES 10.12103/GU CE"

For some of the codes, we were able to retrieve the associated company and location: http://es.openfoodfacts.org/codigo-de-envasador/es-10-12103-gu-ce

And in turn we use the info to display it on http://madenear.me

Slack

We now use Slack a lot for collaborating amongst OFF contributors. It would be great to have you there as well, to coordinate for translations, taxonomy changes, packaging codes support etc. https://openfoodfacts.slack.com

I sent you an invitation on your email on Oct 25th. I hope you can join us there!

  • I resent the invitation yesterday (mailbox with your username + off @yahoo.com), did you get it? --Stephane (talk) 16:23, 4 December 2014 (CET)
